New Patrol Service to Start Operations in Yerevan in the First Quarter of 2021
During a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today, the progress of police reforms in Armenia was discussed. The agenda included the establishment of the new Patrol Service.
Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan provided details regarding the acceptance of applications from citizens wishing to join the new structure, procurement of vehicles and technical equipment, selection of trainers for the education process, and other related tasks. It was noted that from mid-October 2020, the training process for selected citizens will begin at the Police Educational Complex, aimed at developing a new type of officer equipped with the necessary skills, mindset, and equipment.
According to the Minister, the reform is proceeding smoothly and according to the established timeline. The Patrol Service is expected to commence its operations in Yerevan in the first quarter of 2021 and throughout Armenia in the first quarter of 2022.
The meeting also discussed structural and personnel issues related to the newly established service, as well as its deployment. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of shaping and establishing the new Patrol Service in Armenia and instructed to continue active work in accordance with the proposed timeline.
