Lidian Armenia Calls on Law Enforcement to Fulfill Their Direct Duties and Restore Law in the Amulsar Area
Lidian Armenia has issued a statement calling on law enforcement agencies to carry out their immediate functions. The statement reads:
“Lidian Armenia has reported that a group engaging in illegal activities around Amulsar has continued to park their vehicles unlawfully near the entrances of Amulsar, an area legally under the jurisdiction of Lidian. For over two years, this group, enjoying the impunity of law enforcement's inaction, has consistently obstructed the supply of food to people working in the Amulsar area, including residents of the local community, as well as the free access of sewage and waste collection vehicles, creating a severe humanitarian problem.
Lidian has been compelled to remove the vehicles of these violators from the company’s premises in order to ensure the basic vital conditions in the area, as well as the uninterrupted access for security personnel.
We remind the law enforcement agencies and the Government of the Republic of Armenia that the citizens of the Republic of Armenia, who have legislative rights to work in the territory of Lidian Armenia's Amulsar project, are residents of surrounding communities. The guarantor of their work, safety, and life must be the Government of Armenia, represented by law enforcement agencies.
Meanwhile, the unrestricted actions of the group committing illegal activities hinder the fulfillment of essential needs for law-abiding citizens working in the Amulsar area and have become a threat to the residents of these communities.
Lidian will take all necessary actions within the legal framework to ensure the safety of its employees. We call on law enforcement agencies to fulfill their immediate duties and restore law in the area; otherwise, the responsibility for possible conflicts in the community will fall on law enforcement agencies.”
