Who Is Exempt from Wearing Masks? A List of Changes Published

According to the decree No. 253 of the Prime Minister of Armenia dated August 18, 2020, wearing masks is mandatory in public outdoor areas outside of residential areas, with the following exceptions:

  1. Children under the age of 6;
  2. Individuals with chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema, or bronchitis with severe respiratory insufficiency;
  3. Individuals with chronic heart failure of 3rd or 4th functional class, provided they have medical documentation confirming the relevant health condition;
  4. When engaging in physical exercises or cycling;
  5. In specially designated outdoor areas for leisure purposes, including resort areas and beaches, mountains, forests, and other similar outdoor spaces. However, this does not apply to visits to parks, city squares, botanical and zoological gardens, cultural heritage sites, pilgrimage sites, organized individual and group hikes, excursions, treks, tours, and similar activities.

It is noted that the Environmental and Mining Inspection of Armenia will cooperate with the Armenian Police to ensure:

  1. Control over human gatherings, irregular lines, and the enforcement of mask-wearing and social distancing in areas of immovable monuments of history and culture;
  2. In historical, cultural, natural, scientific, and other objects of tourism interest;
  3. In areas focused on natural, socio-cultural, and resort resources;
  4. In holiday camps and camping facilities (complexes).
