Many of our citizens in Russia are in a desperate situation due to their inability to return to Armenia through Georgia: Edmond Marukyan

MP Edmond Marukyan wrote on his Facebook page: “I have addressed the Prime Minister of Armenia with a proposal to organize the return of Armenian citizens from Russia through land borders with a special escort.

Dear citizens, I have just contacted Prime Minister Pashinyan regarding the following issue: Many of our citizens in the Russian Federation are in a desperate situation as they are unable to return to Armenia through Georgia in their vehicles.

To resolve this situation, I have suggested negotiating with the Prime Ministers of Russia and Georgia on the issue of returning our citizens to Armenia via land borders. Under pandemic conditions, the border with Georgia remains closed for Armenian citizens. Therefore, I believe it is possible to carry out this plan by transporting our compatriots to their homeland on pre-established days and times, escorted by police vehicles, provided that it is stipulated that Armenian citizens must cross Georgian territory without interacting with Georgian citizens.

In this way, it will be possible for citizens to enter Armenia with their vehicles and belongings. Information regarding the Prime Minister's response will also be published on my official page.”
