Protest in Defense of Amulsar Fails, Police Detain 18 Citizens

Citizens and human rights defenders gathered in front of the Government against the exploitation of Amulsar. However, participants in the protest were detained by police. The protesters indicated that they stood at a distance of 2 meters from each other. Nevertheless, the police demanded the gathering be terminated.

Human rights defender Nina Karapetyants stated that she was told to stop the gathering and that she would be arrested. "I said that I am not holding a gathering but rather an individual action, raising my voice of protest regarding Amulsar," she noted.

Human rights defender Ara Garagyozian was also taken to the police station. According to Auroranews, 18 citizens have been moved to the police department. Arthur Khudinyan stated that they had presented a legal request, saying that gatherings are not allowed during the state of emergency, and some of the participants had left with the time given, while those who remained were detained. The gathering was subsequently terminated.
