Lydian Misplaced Cabin, Experts Will Relocate It 7 Meters Tomorrow, Says Mayor

'Lydian Armenia' company has made an error in the placement of a cabin, and appropriate specialists will come to relocate it to a suitable area. This was announced by Vardan Hovhannisyan, the mayor of Jermuk, during a protest action taking place in Amulsar.

"I clearly stated that the process is underway. We wrote a letter today, and tomorrow morning they will rectify their installation error. Specialists will come and show you where the cabins should be placed in your presence. They will move the cabin to the appropriate location with their own means," said the mayor.

Vardan Hovhannisyan noted that the cabins will be relocated approximately 7 meters to a different area, but the protesters declared that they do not agree with the decision to move them just 7 meters. The mayor asked the participants of the protest to clear the road leading to Jermuk city.

At this moment, the participants of the protest are discussing whether to open the road and suspend the demonstrations, but for now, the protest action continues.

It should be noted that earlier, the mayor mentioned to journalists that not only will the cabins of the 'Lydian' company be removed tomorrow, but also the cabins of the Amulsar guards will be relocated to another area.

This protest action has been ongoing for three days in Amulsar. They have three demands: first, to remove the newly hired security service’s cabins 30 meters away from the area, to expel the company’s security group from the Amulsar area, and to receive a clear government decision regarding Amulsar.

Recall that the new security service hired by 'Lydian' has displaced the cabins of the Amulsar guards and replaced them with their own.

For the past two days, the situation in Amulsar has been tense, with arrests made during the protests and clashes occurring between police and protesters. The protest participants attempted to move the cabins set up by the security group hired by 'Lydian Armenia' within the area they have rented in Amulsar. The demonstrators had blocked the highway leading to the city of Jermuk. Members of the National Assembly and the regional police chief were present at the scene.

It is worth mentioning that on July 20, 2018, a criminal case was initiated concerning the concealment of information regarding environmental damage caused by the operation of the Amulsar mine. Upon the government's invitation, an international environmental expertise was conducted in the mining area. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had stated that the mine will not be operated until a positive conclusion is obtained from the expert evaluation.
