This is nothing but a national disgrace. Levon Ter-Petrosyan on education standards
The debate creates an impression that the vulgar-materialist historiography of the Soviet era is being replaced by a more provincial, dangerously propagandist historiography since Armenia's independence. Armenian historiography, with giants like Nikoghayos Adonts, Hakob Manandyan, Suren Yeremyan, and Gagik Sargsyan, has no right to fall to this level, where we are, in essence, equating ourselves with Turkish and Azerbaijani historiographies.
If the Turks and Azerbaijanis distort history, it does not mean that we too should resort to fabrications. It is hard to imagine a more humiliating degradation (I apologize for using a foreign term). I do not want to use harsher words, but this is nothing but a national disgrace, utterly unworthy of a truly glorious nation like the Armenians, one of the rare nations that had a state more than 2500 years ago and still has a state today.
