Bloodshed is Looming at Amulsar: Shirak Buniatyan
Environmental activist and resident of Jermuk, Shirak Buniatyan, has called on the public to gather at Amulsar through a live Facebook broadcast. The video shows a large number of vehicles already heading towards Amulsar.
“Even if there is no opportunity, we must create it and come to Amulsar, because the resolution of this two-and-a-half-year struggle must happen today,” Buniatyan stated, emphasizing that all the effort would be meaningless if they allowed the roads to Amulsar to be opened step by step.
“Today, we all must stand and demand a solution to this issue, otherwise every day there will be provocations, and bloodshed is growing at Amulsar; one day we will either have to kill the guards or they will kill us and that will be it. It is already a fact that we do not have a strong government capable of resolving this issue and legitimizing the people's decision… If some guard service can take on functions and open the roads overnight instead of the police, which, according to the contract, is only supposed to secure property, and the police chief of Vayots Dzor says, ‘we do not have the right to interfere,’ then the people have greater rights,” Buniatyan said.
