Armenian Embassy in Beirut Damaged by Powerful Explosion Located 15 km Away
The Armenian Embassy in Lebanon has been damaged following a powerful explosion that occurred today in Beirut, located 15 km away. All windows of the embassy have been shattered. This information was shared on Facebook by the Chief Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Zareh Sinanyan.
“We received news this evening that a strong explosion reverberated in Lebanon, specifically at the Beirut port. Initial reports indicate that this powerful blast has damaged buildings and residences. The predominantly Armenian Bourj Hammoud neighborhood is located nearby and has also suffered damages,” he stated.
“Immediately after the incident, I contacted the Armenian Ambassador to Lebanon, Vahagn Atabekyan, via phone. The ambassador mentioned that he has already reached out to various organizations to ascertain the extent of the preliminary damage and whether there are any casualties. Currently, only one injury has been reported, related to glass shards resulting from the explosion,” Sinanyan added.
“The Armenian Embassy, located 15 km away from the explosion site, has also been affected, with all windows broken. There have been no reports of fatalities at this time. We will provide further updates as new information becomes available. God protect our compatriots and the residents of Beirut.”
