Large Number of Coronavirus Cases Confirmed in 'Lentex' and 'Svettex' Companies

According to the results of sampling conducted by the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention, a large number of infected individuals have been confirmed in two major companies in Gyumri, 'Lentex' and 'Svettex'. A few days ago, following the registration of 2 cases among individuals in contact with the infected at 'Lentex', testing was carried out, which revealed that a significant number of employees at both companies are infected.

This was reported to Armenpress by Tigran Petrosyan, the governor of Shirak region. 'In each institution, the National Center for Disease Control established a large circle of contacts, after which samples were taken from both companies, resulting in the discovery of outbreaks of over 20 cases in both institutions. The activities of 'Svettex' have currently been suspended, while discussions regarding 'Lentex' are still ongoing,' noted Tigran Petrosyan, informing that all infected individuals have been given instructions for self-isolation.

As of June 9 at 11:30 AM, 75 patients are being treated for coronavirus at the Gyumri infectious diseases hospital, of which 42 are residents of Shirak region. A total of 192 residents of the region have recovered from the virus and been discharged from the hospital. Currently, 621 citizens in the region are under home self-isolation, with 93 of them diagnosed positive for the virus yet asymptomatic; monitoring is being conducted by primary health care services. 28 patients have been transferred to the capital. A total of 10 deaths have been reported.

Since March 1, a total of 2,575 samples have been tested in Shirak region's medical facilities and the regional center of the National Center for Disease Control. From May 12 to June 8, 1,252 tests were conducted in Gyumri.
