Employees of General's Restaurant and Son of 'Gazprom Armenia' Worker Arrested on Suspicion of Murder and Cover-Up
On May 27, based on the decision by the head of the Abovyan investigative division of the Kotayk regional investigative department of Armenia's Investigative Committee, Garnik Matevosyan, a group was established under the leadership of investigator Arthur Ghazaryan. Those arrested include 39-year-old Lusine Sh., a resident of Garni village, 48-year-old Rouzanna Kh., a resident of Yerevan, and Garni villagers 33-year-old Roman M. and 34-year-old Samvel N.
According to shamshyan.com, Lusine Sh. and Rouzanna Kh. are suspected of concealing and aiding the crime, while Roman M. and Samvel N. are suspected of committing murder.
On November 1, 2018, the Kotayk police were alerted by the Garni outpatient center that a citizen had been admitted with "alcohol intoxication and polytrauma." At that time, police officers from the Kotayk police and the Garni division were informed by doctors that the injured person was unable to provide explanations regarding the incident.
The police determined that the injured individual was 33-year-old Razmik Nersisyan from Garni village, who was later transferred to the "Saint Grigor Lusavorich" medical center, where he died in the intensive care unit on November 11.
On November 23, a criminal case was initiated in the Abovyan investigative division under Article 110, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code. While some believed this case would conclude without progress, extensive efforts were made by the leadership of the Kotayk regional investigative department, including Chief Sahak Grigoryan, Head G. Matevosyan, and Investigator A. Ghazaryan.
Subsequently, the investigative team, in collaboration with the Kotayk regional police, led by Major Andranik Meloyan, discovered that the incident was not an accident but rather a murder. Days later, the forensic expert's conclusion confirmed that Razmik N. did not die from an accident, but rather from homicide.
Within hours, police in Kotayk and investigators took the individuals mentioned into custody on suspicion of covering up the murder and committing the murder itself.
According to G. Shamshyan, Lusine Sh. and Rouzanna Kh. are employees at the "Golden Rooster" hotel complex owned by General Gurgen Melikonian in the village of Gokht, with Lusine serving as a waitress and Rouzanna as a manager. Roman M., under suspicion for murder, is known in his circle as the son of the head of the Garni gas distribution unit of "Gazprom Armenia." The investigative division is expected to petition the court tomorrow to decide on a two-month detention as a preventive measure for the mentioned individuals.
According to G. Shamshyan, the crime was solved through the significant operational and investigative actions of investigators and subsequent actionable intelligence efforts.
