Azerbaijan Intensifies Activity in Nakhchivan Region: Commander's 'Nissan' and Deputy Commander's 'UAZ' Vehicles Burned

The newspaper 'Hraparak' reports: 'Yesterday, due to gunfire from the Azerbaijani side, the 'Nissan' vehicle of the commander of one of the Armenian military units was burned. The gunfire came from the Nakhchivan side, from the section of the border where the adversary had advanced its positions after 2018. Earlier, on April 10, a similar incident occurred when the vehicle of the deputy commander of the unit, a 'UAZ', was burned due to enemy fire. Fortunately, there were no casualties in either case.

The latest incident took place near the village of Areni in Vayots Dzor. Essentially, the adversary has made our positions more visible and accessible. The Ministry of Defense did not officially comment on the incident, but confirmed the news. They conveyed that the enemy fired from a heavy-caliber, machine-mounted gun (DShK), the drivers managed to escape, and the vehicles were completely burned and are no longer usable.'

Auroranews contacted spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, Shushan Stepanyan, who confirmed that such an incident took place. She also noted that there is nothing alarming, and the situation is stable and under control.
