New Details Emerge on Stabbing Incident in Vanadzor: "If You Don't Stop, I'll Cut Your Throat..."
1-in.am reports that the appeal regarding the case of Edik H. is currently being heard by the Court of Appeals. The case was examined in the General Jurisdiction Court of Lori region, presided over by Suren Baghdasaryan.
Edik H., born in 1987, has been charged with causing serious bodily harm to two individuals under the first point of the second part of Article 112 of the Criminal Code of Armenia.
According to the indictment, on May 17, 2014, around 7 PM, Edik H. was driving his Nissan vehicle on Tigran Mets Avenue in Vanadzor and did not allow a passing VAZ-2109, driven by Suren K., to overtake him. Suren K. honked his horn and attempted to maneuver around him. At that moment, Edik H. stopped his vehicle near a car wash on Tumanyan Street. Suren K. followed and parked at the same location.
A confrontation ensued regarding the overtaking issue and the parking situation in front of the car wash, leading Suren to demand clarification from Edik. A dispute and a scuffle broke out. Suren's friend, Harutyun S., who was near the car wash, intervened.
According to the charges, Edik H. delivered a "sharp and powerful" single blow to the abdominal front surface of Suren K. with a sharp cutting instrument and also struck Harutyun S. in the front of the chest, intentionally causing serious harm to both individuals' health.
On August 6, 2014, Edik H. was declared wanted. While in hiding, he informed the police of his intention to return to Armenia. On April 12, 2017, at 00:30, he crossed into Armenia through the Gogavank checkpoint, voluntarily presented himself to the police, and was arrested.
The suspended criminal proceedings were resumed that same day. Edik H. was charged with intentionally causing serious harm to the health of two individuals under the first point of the second part of Article 112 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The precautionary measure of detention was chosen against Edik H.
