Armenian Foreign Ministry Responds to the Death of a 4-Year-Old Child from Coronavirus in Minsk

The news regarding the death of a 4-year-old child of Armenian descent from coronavirus in Minsk, Belarus is widely discussed on the internet these days. The report of the child's death was initially shared by NEWS.am, which cited a close family member.

However, many are skeptical about the credibility of the information. Political analyst Hakob Badalyan commented on the report, stating that if it is true, it is a horrifyingly serious piece of news. “But there is no evidence, no fact to confirm the authenticity of the information. Nevertheless, the news is being disseminated in the media without any evidence. We should not underestimate the impact such unverified news may have on people. I do not claim that the news is unreal; I have no basis for such a claim. However, I lack any evidence or facts confirming that the child has died or that death was indeed caused by coronavirus. Yet, this news is widely presented to the public,” he said.

ArmDaily.am requested a comment from Anna Naghdalyan, spokesperson for the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the incident. Naghdalyan said, “The Armenian Embassy in Belarus, which has contacted relevant community structures about the incident, has no information at this time.”
