VIDEO: Kapan Police Uncover Illegal Logging Incident

On May 8, the Kapan Police Department received a notification from the “Hayantar” SNCO Kapan forestry that 19 illegally cut trees of different species and diameters had been discovered in the forest area of the village of Jakatin.

During the complex search operations, investigators gathered information suggesting that the illegal logging might have been conducted by a 66-year-old resident of the same village. Following explanatory work, the suspect presented himself at the Kapan Police Department.

It became clear that between April 21 and May 6, he illegally cut down 12 box trees, 3 mulberries, 3 oaks, and one cherry tree from the specified area. The circumstances are still being clarified, and the extent of damage to nature is being assessed. Materials are being prepared on the case.
