Tension at Central Bank as Police Detain Protesters
On May 12, citizens were holding a protest in front of the Central Bank, demanding that the Bank revoke the licenses of those lending organizations that provide loans to citizens at "unbelievably" high-interest rates.
However, the protest escalated into a scuffle when police attempted to detain protesters, including Manuel Manukyan, the head of the NGO representing participants of the "Defense Guard" from the four-day war. The situation remains tense at this time.
During the demonstration, police on site continuously urged the crowd through a megaphone to maintain social distance.
