Video: I Fell Down the Stairs and He Fled: Robbery in Abovyan

On May 7, a robbery was reported from one of the apartments in the 4th microdistrict of Abovyan, Kotayk Province. The police stated that the perpetrator had opened the apartment door with a modified key, entered, and stolen jewelry.

According to the police report, it was noted that someone had opened the apartment door with a special key, entered, and taken gold jewelry. The house was unoccupied at the time, but the owner noticed an unknown man leaving her residence as she was climbing the stairs.

In an interview, the victim recounted, “As I was going up the entrance, I noticed that the door was open. I climbed the stairs, and just then, a man came out of the house. I was startled, and after I pushed him, he came towards me with full force and pushed me hard. I fell, rolled down the stairs, and he fled.”

Officers from the Kotayk Police Department quickly took urgent measures to uncover the crime “hot on the trail.” Senior operative of the criminal investigation department of the Kotayk police, Senior Lieutenant Gevorg Avetisyan, elaborated on the investigative efforts, stating, “During the examination of the scene and based on the victim's description, a 32-year-old resident of Abovyan came into our view. We conducted operational-investigative and search activities. The next morning, we located him, and under suspicion of robbery, we detained him at the Kotayk Police Department.”

The previously convicted man has been arrested. A criminal case has been initiated on the basis of robbery. The circumstances of the incident are being clarified, and a preliminary investigation is underway.
