Transconference Involving Mnatsakanyan and Mamedyarov Concludes
On April 21, a video conference took place between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Elmar Mamedyarov. The conference was conducted with the mediation and participation of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs Igor Popov (Russia), Stéphane Visconti (France), and Andrew Schofer (USA), as well as the personal representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Andrzej Kasprzyk.
Participants discussed the situation created by the spread of the new type of coronavirus in the region, emphasizing that all peoples in the region, regardless of political borders, are facing this new challenge. Recent developments in the region were also addressed.
In the context of the global fight against the new type of coronavirus, the need for taking measures to unconditionally maintain and strengthen the ceasefire regime was particularly highlighted. In this regard, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs underscored the importance of their statement and the call for a global ceasefire by the UN Secretary-General.
As a result of the consultations held on April 21, a joint statement was adopted by the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, along with the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.
