As Long as It’s Not Too Late, Have Mercy and Do Not Push People to Extreme Measures – Naira Zohrabyan

Member of the National Assembly from the Prosperous Armenia Party Naira Zohrabyan, commenting on the Public Services Regulatory Commission’s appeal urging citizens to pay utility bills, wrote on her Facebook page:

“Who is the author of this 'grandiose' idea? The Public Services Regulatory Commission, clearly exceeding its authority, is urging citizens to pay their utility bills because the commission has concluded that starting today, the force majeure that impeded the fulfillment of their obligation to pay for utility services has been lifted.

Essentially, this commission has decided that if certain social groups receive transfers of 27, 67, or 100 thousand drams, citizens who are sitting at home and not working due to the emergency should rush to pay for gas, electricity, and water and then return home to take care of their expenses.

And for the thousands who are responsibly staying at home without receiving any form of support, their access to gas, electricity, and water will be cut off, leaving them in total darkness and without energy. Don’t forget that in thousands of households, the disconnection of electricity will also mean the loss of internet access, and children will be forced to say goodbye to remote learning.

Therefore, as long as it’s not too late, have mercy on this bad, very bad idea and do not push people to extreme measures. Just don’t do it, simply don’t do it.”
