Only the Central and Arabkir Districts Will Have Red Lines in Yerevan, Says MP About New Draft Law
During a live session on his Facebook page, MP Sisak Gabrielyan from the 'My Step' faction addressed a legislative initiative according to which red lines will remain only in certain areas of the Central and Arabkir administrative districts out of Yerevan's 12 districts.
According to the MP, they have been working on the project since last year and have had several meetings with the Yerevan mayor. “We plan to make some changes related to regulation as well. For example, previously, administrative acts were drawn up through roaming vehicles, and there were photographs with timestamps, which raised legitimate complaints. Many argued that they had not parked for that long, and the appeals against the acts mostly succeeded. Now we state that regulation can only be carried out in the presence of video footage lasting at least 15 minutes,” the MP stated.
Gabrielyan also considers it a problem that vehicles have been parked on central streets of Yerevan for 12 months a year, often without license plates or with obscured numbers. “By law, we grant the city council the authority to ban parking without state registration numbers or with obscured numbers on red lines. Here, the council can find solutions at its discretion, for example, designate separate areas for vehicles intended for sale and rent and set different rates,” the MP noted.
The 'My Step' MP also reported that the draft law will be submitted for circulation in the National Assembly starting this week, and it will reach the Assembly for the first reading in about a month and a half, while the second reading will take place at the beginning of the autumn session.
