Martin Galstyan to Assume the Position of Central Bank President on June 13

On April 17, the National Assembly of Armenia elected Martin Galstyan as the President of the Central Bank. According to the procedures, Martin Galstyan will take office as the President of the Central Bank of Armenia on June 13.

Below is a brief biography of Martin Galstyan:

Martin Artashes Galstyan was born on May 4, 1978. He studied at the Faculty of Economics of Yerevan State University from 1994 to 1999, and later pursued a PhD at the same university, obtaining a candidate degree in economics. From 2009 to 2010, he studied at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, receiving a Master’s degree in Public Administration.

His career began in 1998 at the Central Bank of Armenia. For many years, he led the subdivision responsible for managing international reserves within the Financial Operations Department, and later headed the Statistics Department. In 2015, he was appointed as the first director of the Dilijan Research and Education Center. Since 2018, he has been a member of the Board of the Central Bank of Armenia.

He serves as an international advisor/lecturer for the World Bank and teaches a course on “Competitiveness and Clusters” at the American University of Armenia. He also lectures under the Harvard Business School program at the same university. In 2015, he was recognized as the best lecturer at the American University of Armenia.

Galstyan is actively involved in public activities, having participated in over 50 international professional events, and is the author of several professional publications. He is married and has three children.
