Certain Diaspora Structures May Be Sources of Disappointment: Pashinyan

“Certain structures of our beloved Diaspora may be sources of disappointment. For a considerable period, several Diaspora organizations have acted as intermediaries between the government of Armenia and the Diaspora. Today, that phenomenon is changing, as I am now speaking directly, with no separation—whether I am speaking with the Diaspora or Armenia,” stated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a live Facebook session.

The Prime Minister noted that there is an overarching structural problem: the sooner we acknowledge it, the more accurate our policies towards the Diaspora will be. For instance, 30 to 40 years ago, 90 percent of the Diaspora was connected to one or another Diaspora organization, meaning that an institutional structure existed. Unfortunately, over the last 40 years, that logic has changed.

According to him, since the revolution, they have been communicating directly with the Diaspora, which is positive. “But it brings along certain problems,” he added.
