Selling Animals Listed in the Red Book: Inspection Body of Environment and Mining

The Inspection Body of Environment and Mining has investigated recent publications and advertisements on the internet regarding the sale of wild animals, including those listed in the Republic of Armenia's Red Book, birds, their offspring, trophies, and hunting products (meat, skins, fur, bones, by-products of biological activity, organs and tissues, as well as parts of the body which serve as hunting trophies such as tusks, antlers, etc.). They have contacted the Police of the Republic of Armenia in all cases of legal violations to ensure the further processing of these cases, to identify offenders, and to hold them accountable in accordance with the law.

It should be noted that according to Article 22, Clause 3 of the RA Law on “Hunting and Management of Hunting Activities,” “A hunter has the right to manage the game and its products obtained.” However, first and foremost, the hunter must possess a document confirming the right to hunt (license or permit) or must substantiate the legality of acquiring the animal or its products; otherwise, it will be considered illegal activity, and appropriate administrative or criminal liability measures will be applied.

We remind you that according to the RA Minister of Environment’s Order No. 279-N dated August 20, 2019, the amateur hunting season ended on February 29, 2020.

The Inspection Body of Environment and Mining continues to pursue compliance with the requirements of the RA Law on “Hunting and Management of Hunting Activities” of April 9, 2007, the RA Minister of Environment’s Order No. 9-N dated January 15, 2009, and all laws related to the field.
