29-Year-Old Woman Charged with Murder and Various Thefts
As a result of extensive investigative and other procedural actions conducted by the Vagharshapat Investigative Division of the Armavir Regional Investigative Committee, it has been established that a 29-year-old resident of Ejmiadzin, in agreement with a 48-year-old resident of the Ararat region, entered an apartment on Mashtots Street in Ejmiadzin between 21:00 and 23:30 on April 12, 2019, intending to unlawfully take the life of an 81-year-old fellow citizen with robbery. They bound the victim with adhesive tape, ransacked his belongings to steal property, and then struck him five times on the head with a blunt, hard object, resulting in the death of the man.
Afterward, they took the victim’s keys to his house, storage, metal safe, garage, and car, subsequently entered the brandy store owned by him on the same street, as well as the garage, and stole his Lexus RX 330 vehicle before fleeing the scene.
During the investigation, additional manifestations of criminal activity committed by the 29-year-old woman were revealed. In particular, it was established that on November 17, 2018, during a dispute over previous disagreements, she intentionally struck the head of a homeowner in an apartment on Vram Kostanyan Street in Ejmiadzin with an iron object three times, causing bodily harm that did not constitute light injury.
Additionally, on December 22, 2018, at approximately 03:00, the 29-year-old woman solicited assistance from a 59-year-old taxi driver to commit theft of property. She traveled in his vehicle to Chkalovka village in the Gegharkunik region, unlawfully entering one of the village’s animal shelters, and secretly stole 12 sheep valued at 780,000 AMD.
Furthermore, from January 19, 2019, between 01:30 and 06:30, the woman illegally entered a clothing store on Nar-Dos Street and stole clothes and sports shoes, causing extensive property damage totaling 820,000 AMD.
On January 28, 2019, with the direct intent of stealing a citizen’s passport, she visited an acquaintance under the pretext of socializing, and while the host was absent from the living room, secretly stole his passport, later using it to rent two computers.
Based on sufficient evidence collected in the criminal case, the 29-year-old woman has been charged under the 2nd part of Article 104 (clauses 7 and 8), Article 118, Article 177 (2nd part, clauses 1, 2, and 3 of the RA Criminal Code) and Article 324 (1st part). The 48-year-old man has been charged under the same articles related to the murder. Both have been remanded in custody. The 59-year-old taxi driver faces charges under Article 38 (5th part) and Article 177 (2nd part, clauses 1, 2, and 3) and has been released on bail.
The completion of the investigation has been announced, and the criminal case has been sent to court with an accusatory conclusion.
