41-Year-Old Man Murdered by Acquaintance, Azerbaijani Citizen Residing in Armenia
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has revealed several critical circumstances surrounding the murder of a resident of Hrazdan City, including the motive and the identity of the alleged perpetrator, who is a 41-year-old Armenian citizen born in Azerbaijan and has been living in Armenia for the past 25 years. The perpetrator was a long-time acquaintance and neighbor of the victim.
As established during the investigation conducted by the Kotayk Regional Investigative Department, on December 18, 2019, around 22:30, the 41-year-old man consumed alcoholic beverages at his neighbor's house. During a heated argument over domestic issues, the two parties engaged in a physical altercation, pulling and striking each other.
Subsequently, the Azerbaijani national struck his neighbor in the face with his fist, knocking him to the ground. He then continued to strike the victim in the head and other parts of his body with the intent to unlawfully take his life. The injuries sustained by the victim resulted in his death.
Based on the collected evidence, the alleged perpetrator has been charged under Article 104, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (Murder). The preliminary investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to the court with an indictment.
