Iran's Deputy Health Minister Infected with Coronavirus
Iran's Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi has tested positive for the coronavirus. The information was shared on Twitter by Ali Reza Vahabzadeh, a consultant to the country's health minister.
"The test result for Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Harirchi has been positive. He has been on the front lines in the fight against the coronavirus in recent days," Vahabzadeh wrote on Twitter.
Just the day before, a press conference took place involving Harirchi and Iranian government representative Ali Rabiei. According to a correspondent from RIA Novosti, who followed the press conference broadcast, the Deputy Minister of Health coughed several times during the event.
As of February 25 at 1:00 PM, 61 cases have been reported in the Islamic Republic of Iran, of which 15 have resulted in death. According to the daily report from the Chinese National Health Commission, as of the same date and time, the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) stood at 77,782, with 2,824 suspected cases, 27,554 recovered cases, and 2,666 deaths recorded. Currently, 9,126 patients are in serious condition.
