Vahe Grigoryan Discusses His 'Secret Missions'
Constitutional Court member Vahe Grigoryan has addressed the publication regarding his 'secret missions' on his Facebook page. He stated, 'Yesterday, a media outlet published an extensive article, referencing the head of the Constitutional Court's staff, claiming that I have gone on 'secret missions' three times. This is yet another piece of disinformation, which, as has been the case in the past, is executed by utilizing the name of the Constitutional Court of Armenia, serving as a source of such partisan propaganda at the highest body of state authority.'
In reality, he explained, 'As a judge of the Constitutional Court, I traveled on a mission to Warsaw at the invitation of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Poland, in the capacity of a guest at the 3rd National Congress on Human Rights in Poland. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia was properly informed about this visit, and during my entire stay, I was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia in Poland, receiving necessary information and advice.'
'During this visit, I had meetings with official and unofficial representatives of the Polish Human Rights Institute and several legal scholars from my previous colleagues, and I spoke on issues regarding the effectiveness of international mechanisms for the prevention of torture.'
'In December 2019 and January 2020, I traveled for a total of six working days for a short vacation with my family to London (to celebrate the New Year) and to Rome. All aforementioned absences were reported in writing to the accounting and financial department of the Constitutional Court staff before and until the end of the working month, requesting corresponding deductions from my salary for the days I was absent.'
'I consider it important to present these clarifications publicly, drawing the attention of the citizens of Armenia and the governmental bodies to the fact that this is the third time that the member of the Constitutional Court Hrayr Tovmasyan, with direct knowledge and possibly from instructions of one of the state bodies, the Republic's Constitutional Court is officially involved in the dissemination of disinformation against a judge of the Constitutional Court.’
