Mother of Karen Isayan, murdered in Gyumri, sues Serzh Sargsyan
On April 12, 2012, 27-year-old Karen Isayan was brutally murdered in Gyumri on his engagement day. He was the fiancé of the daughter of the former mayor of Gyumri, Vardan Gukasyan. His mother, Anahit Iskandaryan, has filed a lawsuit against Armenia's former president Serzh Sargsyan, as reported by Aravot.am.
The case is set to be heard on February 18 at 11:00 AM at the Administrative Court of the Republic of Armenia. In an interview with the source, Anahit Iskandaryan explained that the reason for suing the former president is due to his decision to grant clemency on March 31, 2018, which reduced the prison sentence of Harutyun Sargsyan, who was convicted of murder, by four years and six months.
Iskandaryan has also sent an open letter to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, requesting that he annul the clemency granted by Serzh Sargsyan within his jurisdiction.
