Surprising Details: Minister Suren Papikyan Concealed His Conviction

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures, Suren Papikyan, who is also the head of the "Civil Contract" party board and currently leads the campaign for a 'yes' vote in the constitutional referendum, has concealed the fact that he was previously charged under a criminal code and even served time in prison.

According to "Hraparak," while serving in the military, he stabbed his commander with a knife, leading to the initiation of a criminal case against him. Papikyan was charged under Article 334, part 2, subsection B, and part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which addresses violence against a superior during military service with the use of a weapon.

On March 27, 2006, he was sentenced by the 5th Military Garrison Court to 2 years and 3 months of imprisonment, a sentence that was later confirmed by the General Jurisdiction Court of the Erebuni Administrative District in accordance with our legislation. He served his sentence in the "Nubarashen" penitentiary and was released on February 23, 2007, under an amnesty.

This conviction appears to have been expunged, thus it poses no barriers for him in holding a public office. However, it is notable that this fact has been omitted from his biography.
