Fact: Diplomats to Focus on Domestic Political Issue Refinement

The newspaper "Fact" reports: Recently, a meeting of heads of diplomatic missions of Armenia accredited in Europe, international, and regional organizations was held in Vienna, initiated by Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan.

From the official statement, it becomes clear that during the meeting, a detailed discussion was held on Armenia's foreign policy priorities, the challenges faced by Armenian diplomacy, and the steps taken to address these issues.

"Fact" has learned interesting details related to this meeting. Accordingly, the main emphasis concerning the work of the ambassadors this year has been placed not so much on the resolution of traditionally agenda-related issues—such as the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, recognition of the Genocide, and issues of Armenian heritage—but rather (aside from these) on neutralizing negative reactions from European structures regarding the upcoming referendum and various themes in general.

A source from the Foreign Ministry notes with surprise that for the first time representatives of the foreign agency have been tasked with engaging in the process of refining domestic political issues.

The newspaper’s interlocutor also confirms that this is an unprecedented process in the history of the Foreign Ministry, where local issues have actually become dominant. Moreover, according to the newspaper, ambassadors have been specifically instructed to monitor visits and meetings of representatives of the Republican Party of Armenia and other radical opposition forces in European countries, in order to neutralize the undesirable consequences of those visits for the authorities as much as possible.

More details can be found in today’s issue of the newspaper.
