Alen Simonian Selects Edmon Marukyan as the First Candidate of the YELQ Alliance: David Khajakyan

Member of the Yerevan City Council from the “Bright” faction and LHK member David Khajakyan has published a photo on his Facebook page along with a note stating that Alen Simonian, who is seen taking a selfie with a wide smile alongside Edmon Marukyan, has chosen Marukyan as the top candidate of the YELQ alliance.

“Yesterday, for the first time, Alen Simonian shared the photo of the well-known and publicized meeting between Edmon Marukyan and Serzh Sargsyan as a major kompromat against Marukyan. However, the ruling party’s council member Alen Simonian, well aware of this ‘kompromat’ event and the associated photo, recently voted in secret together with his other colleagues to select Edmon Marukyan as the top candidate of the YELQ alliance. This is a glaring instance of not reconciling with one’s own identity and denying one’s political past. It is understandable that Alen cannot offer more to Pashinyan in a debate with Marukyan. His services are limited to this.

I regret to note again that as the leader of the YELQ faction in the council, I could not instill in Alen a consistency regarding his own past, which, if it had been possible, might have allowed the ruling party's council to select him as the candidate for the Mayor of Yerevan. This page had an impact on my former colleague, the consequences of which we are witnessing these days.
