“Both my wife and my friends have been helping from day one to fulfill all our promises,” said Yerevan Mayor Haik Marutyan, addressing rumors that his wife is interfering in the city hall’s operations.

“My wife, along with a group of friends, wrote a program from scratch to secure a €5.3 million grant for Yerevan. This has nothing to do with either the Government or the Yerevan City Hall. They wrote it at my request. A program concerning hazardous waste has been drafted; we applied and won in a major competition where many cities participated. If there’s anyone who is dissatisfied with my wife or my friends aiding us, I would say that person simply has issues with the capital,” Marutyan clarified.
