The Referendum Conducted 'Forcibly' Will Become the Barbell Under Which the Ruling Power Will Remain: Khajakyan
Since the change of power, the mention of former authorities has been a key tactic of the ruling power in political processes. The authorities resort to this trick whenever they are losing in substantive debates with the opposition, and their only way out is to appear 'better' against the backdrop of the past. This statement was made today, February 11, on the Facebook page of Yerevan City Council ‘Bright Armenia’ faction member Davit Khajakyan.
In his post, he specifically noted: 'The engine of black and white operates without fuel. The referendum, with a challenging high threshold, has only one formula for success—the formula of dividing black and white, which should create intrigue about the topic and ensure necessary participation, laced with hate speech.'
Today, Bright Armenia announced its stance, stating that this process is illegal and, in political science terms, non-legitimate. Similar positions have also been voiced by other political forces, which gives grounds to believe that the authorities will remain without competitors. Pashinyan had labeled those forces that would attempt to resist this process as anti-state. On this occasion, he can be 'congratulated' when it becomes clear that no power wishes to be labeled as 'anti-state,' while Pashinyan is left alone in the struggle of black and white.
A referendum conducted 'forcibly' and ignoring the opposition's lawful proposal will become the raised barbell under which the ruling power will remain, leaving its painful impact on our state.'
