The Issue is Mr. Marukyan's Orientations: Vahagn Aleksanyan

Vahagn Aleksanyan, the coordinator of the Public Relations of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), wrote on his Facebook page: "The constitutional amendment put to referendum creates discrimination between the president of the Constitutional Court, six judges, and the remaining two judges, without any objective basis or legal purpose."

This is an excerpt from a text that resembles more of a manifesto from Edmon Marukyan.

For Edmon Marukyan, it perhaps did not seem discriminatory that one judge of the Constitutional Court should serve 20-25 years longer than another. For Mr. Marukyan, it perhaps did not seem discriminatory that one judge can preside for six years, while another can do so for life; but it is apparent that Mr. Marukyan considers the elimination of this discrimination as discriminatory.

For Mr. Marukyan, the restoration of the people's right to have a Constitutional Court modeled after 2015 is not an objective basis. I believe that the problem is solely Mr. Marukyan's orientations.
