I Don't Feel Soros' Influence on Ukraine: Zelensky
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that he does not feel the influence of American financier and billionaire George Soros on Ukraine. In an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, Zelensky described discussions around this topic as exaggerated.
“I am not familiar with anyone named Soros. I have never met him. I certainly am not a Soros supporter,” Zelensky said.
He acknowledged that there may be individuals who have benefitted from certain foundations, including Soros' foundation, or have worked for companies created by such foundations. “I don’t feel Soros’ influence on Ukraine. I believe all of this is exaggerated,” he added.
The president mentioned that he views the term “Soros supporter” humorously, as some lawmakers refer to members of the government in this way. However, he emphasized that the government should not be uniform and that differing opinions are essential to avoid catastrophic mistakes.
“We need to listen to different opinions, different forecasts, different risks. That’s why, it seems to me, there should be both supporters and opponents of Soros, if you want to call them that,” stated the President of Ukraine.
