Under What Conditions Can the President's Decision to Hold a Referendum Be Challenged? Vladimir Vardanyan
The Chairman of the Permanent Commission on Legal Affairs, Vladimir Vardanyan, has stated under what circumstances the President's decision to hold a referendum can be appealed to the Constitutional Court. In a statement to reporters, he noted, "If 1/5 of the members of the National Assembly appeal to the Constitutional Court contesting the President's decision or decree, then the Constitutional Court will be the entity to decide whether to suspend this process or not." He emphasized that on February 9, the President of Armenia signed a decree setting the date for a referendum on constitutional amendments for April 5.
