Turkey's Armed Forces Not Preparing to Withdraw from Idlib

Turkey's Ministry of Defense representative, Colonel Olcay Denizir, has stated that despite the actions of the Syrian government forces, the Turkish observation posts in Idlib will continue their operations, reports Ermeni Haber.

The Turkish military official, addressing the incident in which eight Turkish soldiers were killed by the Syrian government forces in Idlib, noted: “Our priority is to stop the attacks and maintain a ceasefire; however, there will be a powerful response to any attack.”

Turkish media report that Ankara is sending additional forces to the Turkish observation posts in Idlib. It was highlighted that, according to Turkey's Ministry of Defense, eight Turkish soldiers were killed due to the intense shelling by the Syrian government forces on February 3 in Idlib. Following this, Turkey accused Russia of failing to exert the necessary pressure on Assad.

In response, Russia stated that Turkey had not pre-informed them about its actions in Idlib, leading to such incidents. Later, Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu announced that they were waiting for a Russian delegation to visit Turkey to discuss the current situation.
