Tsarukyan No Longer the Most Absent MP: Who Has Replaced Him
The monitoring program of the National Assembly has summarized the activities of the third session of the seventh convocation. Today, Lousine Vasilian, the head of the "NA Monitoring" program, presented the data. According to the report, the MP who voted 'yes' the most from the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) is Karine Poghosyan (189 votes), while the MP who voted 'no' the most is from the ruling party ‘My Step’, Hayk Sargsyan (30 votes). The MP who abstained the most is Takhouhi Tovmasyan from ‘My Step’ (18 votes).
Lousine Vasilian explained that after eight years of leadership, Gagik Tsarukyan has lost his position as the most absent MP, yielding the title to Arusyak Julhakyan. According to her, the top ten absentees in this parliament include many MPs who are part of inter-parliamentary delegations and who participate in numerous activities.
“For example, the top ten absentees consist of members from the NA Foreign Relations Committee,” she stated. According to the monitoring, the most frequently absent MP is the ruling party MP Arusyak Julhakyan (132 absences), while the MP who has asked the most questions and participated in speeches is BHK's Mikayel Melkumyan (79 instances). MPs from ‘My Step’ have asked questions and participated in speeches 578 times, BHK members 236 times, and ‘Bright Armenia’ MPs 144 times. Thus, on average, MPs from ‘My Step’ have made 7 statements and asked questions, while the other two factions have each made 8.
During the third session of the seventh convocation of parliament, 30% of the laws adopted were authored by the National Assembly, and 70% by the government.
