If a Secret Service Officer Decides to Engage in Politics, Then Something Is Wrong in the Country: Vanetsyan
Today in Armenia, something is clearly wrong, and I am in politics. This was stated by the former head of Armenia's National Security Service, Arthur Vanetsyan, in an interview with INTERFAX.
“If an officer of the special services decides to engage in politics, then probably something is not right in the country. We have never dreamed of politics, but when there is no alternative, when the question of the country's future is raised, a decision is made in favor of the country's well-being without a second thought,” he said.
At the same time, Vanetsyan noted that he opposes the harsh political climate between the current and former authorities and the principle that “whoever is not with us is against us.” Vanetsyan mentioned that there are numerous issues in Armenia at this time that require solutions, while the government has strayed from the goals of the 2018 “Velvet Revolution.”
The former director of the NSS also highlighted that the new political party intends to operate only against Nikol Pashinyan's government.
