Clarification on Actions Regarding Food Safety in Kindergartens
The press secretary of the Yerevan City Hall, Hakob Karapetyan, presented on his Facebook page a clarification from the head of the Shengavit administrative district, Razmik Mkrtchyan, regarding actions related to food safety in kindergartens.
“There are 21 kindergartens operating under the administration of the Shengavit district head. In the supervisory function implemented in these kindergartens, the quantity, quality, and safety of the food provided to children are of particular importance.
In this context, a preliminary inspection revealed that there were alterations in the records of the entry and exit logs of food in some kindergartens. Therefore, to examine these and other kindergartens’ logs, a legal procedure needed to be ensured, which became necessary only when the directors were already participating in a previously scheduled and ongoing consultation (on February 7). At that time, the directors were asked to bring the logs, after which representatives of law enforcement agencies carried out operational actions in line with their functions. The logs were taken for examination according to the established procedures and with appropriate documentation.
Emphasizing the importance of the issue, we once again reaffirm our commitment to improving the quality of services in the field of preschool education and upbringing, with the relationships between kindergarten directors and staff viewed in a partner-oriented atmosphere aimed at one common goal, which should eliminate doubt, especially any accidental or intentional inaccuracies. Our children attending community kindergartens must receive only and exclusively quality food, and generally providing quality services to the population is our top priority,” the statement reads.
