Snow and Blizzards Across the Republic

The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that as of February 7 at 23:20, there are closed and difficult-to-access roads in the territory of Armenia.

The Dilijan serpentine (where snow is falling) is closed for freight vehicles. The Vardenyats Pass is closed for all types of vehicles. The Chaikini serpentine is closed for trucks with trailers. The Tigranashen serpentine and the Sotk-Karvachar highway are difficult to negotiate.

On the Kapan-Goris highway, on the roads of the Ashtarak, Amasia regions in Shirak Province, as well as the roads to the villages of Sarapat, Kakavasar, Salout, Musayelyan, and Berdashen, there are spots of black ice. There is blizzard activity on the Sisian-Zanger segment, as well as in the Aragatsotn province, in the regions of Aparan and Tsaghkadzor.

Snowfall is reported in the cities of Talin and Aparan in Aragatsotn Province, in the village of Tsaghkavort, as well as in the cities of Chambarak, Gavar, Sevan, and Martuni in Gegharkunik Province, in the villages of Semyonovka and Shogakat, in the city of Hrazdan and the village of Fantan in Kotayk Province, in the city of Dilijan in Tavush Province, and in the villages of Amasia and Ashotzk as well as along the Vardaghbyur-Musayelyan highway in Shirak Province.

According to information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Russian Federation's Ministry of Emergency Situations in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Larsi road is closed for all types of vehicles. There are 450 freight trucks piled up on the Russian side, according to the Russian crisis management center.
