Our Goal is to Have No Suicides, If You Know the Method, Please Share: Artak Davtyan

Today, Artak Davtyan, the Chief of Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, attended the sessions of the commission investigating the circumstances of the April War in the National Assembly. After the meeting, he spoke with reporters and mentioned that the works have been proceeding smoothly.

Davtyan also addressed the recent case of four deaths in the army at once. When asked about the negative reactions from human rights defenders regarding the situation, he responded: “Human rights defenders or any critics at the squadron commander level, if they had served, would not say such things. The same law enforcement officials should support or come and see how it is done. Every day we have incidents of falling from bridges, deaths by choking, that is how society is. Look at the armies of other countries, see the number of suicides. Of course, we have shortcomings; we are aware of the problems and see them. The Prime Minister announced that last year there were the fewest casualties, a lot of noise was raised. What should we say, is it too much?
