President Does Not Sign 'Banking Secret Law' and Appeals to Constitutional Court

The President has not signed the Banking Secret Law and has appealed to the Constitutional Court, as reported by the Public Relations Department of the Office of the President of Armenia.

"On January 22, 2020, the National Assembly adopted and submitted for the President's signature the laws 'On Amendments and Additions to the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia' and 'On Amendments to the Law on Banking Secrets', which are prima facie problematic from a constitutional perspective. The President has not signed these laws and has appealed to the Constitutional Court with corresponding legal justifications and arguments to request a determination on their compliance with the Constitution," the statement on the presidential website reads.
