Eight Armenian Citizens Refuse Evacuation from China: Armenian Embassy
The Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in China has issued a statement regarding the evacuation of citizens from Wuhan, Hubei Province due to the outbreak of a new type of coronavirus. Two Armenian citizens have been evacuated from Wuhan, while another eight citizens from the same province have declined to be evacuated.
“Dear citizens of the Republic of Armenia, we inform you that as of February 6, in connection with the situation arising from the spread of the new type of coronavirus in China, the evacuation of two Armenian citizens from Wuhan city in Hubei Province has been carried out. The remaining eight Armenian citizens in the same province refused evacuation, citing a sense of greater safety at their current location,” the embassy stated.
Foreign citizens wishing to leave China can make use of available regular flights. Armenian citizens who wish to travel from China through Russian airspace can use the following regular flights: Beijing-Moscow-Yerevan, Shanghai-Moscow-Yerevan, Guangzhou-Moscow-Yerevan, and Hong Kong-Moscow-Yerevan (operated by Aeroflot, Air China, China Eastern, and other airlines; tickets are available for free sale).
At the same time, the possibility of organizing a commercial (paid) charter flight from Armenia is being considered. To preliminarily assess the demand and feasibility for such a flight, it is requested that those wishing to use this service inform the Armenian Embassy in China by providing their name, surname, and location.
Information should be sent to the embassy's email at [email protected] by the evening of February 7. It is important to note that if a reasonable number of passengers is gathered, the flight can potentially be organized, most likely from Beijing, therefore you will need to consider your options for traveling from your location to Beijing independently.
At the same time, Armenian citizens who have documentation issues or need consular assistance are specifically requested to mention this in their correspondence with the embassy. The Armenian Embassy in China continues to monitor the situation and will provide various legal, consular, informational, advisory, and other assistance within its powers,” the statement from the embassy reads.
