Deputy Minister Steps Down to Study at Harvard University

Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Arevik Anapiosyan has announced her decision to leave her position via her Facebook page.

“Dear friends, colleagues, acquaintances, strangers, well-wishers, fellow citizens,

I have been accepted into Harvard University's Business School and will begin studying in the Executive Education program starting January 13 (first module is online). As part of the program, I will study finance, strategic planning and management, international cooperation, leadership, and other similarly interesting and important topics. I highly value continuous professional development and am happy to have this opportunity to study at this school with the support of a few good-willed individuals.

As I step away from my current job, I hope that all the important initiatives and programs for our country will continue to be implemented, especially the revision of standards in the general education sector, development of subject programs, development and implementation of assessment systems, qualification frameworks and standards for teachers, professional development of teachers, and so on.

Regarding international cooperation, I have come to understand during this time that if a country's representative is intelligent and able to speak candidly about issues and present cooperation programs, then there will be no shortage of partners. I hope this will continue in the same rhythm, and since this is not an accountability statement but an expansive publication about my studies, I want to sincerely thank all my colleagues and ask them to continue supporting government initiatives. And if there are friends or colleagues whom I may have inadvertently offended, I cordially invite you today to the 'Goodbye' evening.
