Chinese Doctor Who First Alerted About Coronavirus Outbreak Has Died
Dr. Li Wenliang, the Chinese doctor from Wuhan who was the first to warn about the coronavirus outbreak, has died from the virus. The doctor was accused of spreading false information and disturbing public order.
It is reported that on December 30, Dr. Li examined the medical records of patients whose conditions were remarkably similar to SARS-CoV. He decided to inform his colleagues in a WeChat group that seven cases of SARS infection had been confirmed.
After he published this information, the police warned him that he was spreading false news and inciting panic among the public. Dr. Li himself contracted the coronavirus on January 10 and developed symptoms characteristic of the virus. His parents were also hospitalized with the same symptoms.
