An Agreement Has Taken Place Between Serzh Sargsyan and Hrayr Tovmasyan: Pashinyan Elaborates

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during his speech in the National Assembly regarding the Constitutional Court that the Court has always explained to Armenian citizens, looking at them with dilated eyes, that they cannot form power in the country.

The President and members of the Constitutional Court have written books about “the need for the conventional restraint of the sanctioning presumption of the specific part of the precedential logic of legal practice,” but they have failed to answer a simple question: what about the ballot stuffing, the deceased souls coming to the elections, the vote buying, the beating of trusted persons and observers?” the Prime Minister expressed.

Pashinyan noted that to leave behind the heavy burden of these brutal and unanswered questions and to open a new chapter in our country's constitutional law and the history of the Constitutional Court, a balanced model was chosen with the new Constitution, which he discussed and about which numerous words of encouragement were voiced. He suggested conditionally naming this model “The Dream Constitutional Court.”

Nikol Pashinyan announced that the President of the Constitutional Court, Hrayr Tovmasyan, has done everything to adapt the text of the Constitution to his own plans. “Essentially, an agreement has taken place between Serzh Sargsyan and Hrayr Tovmasyan on the following logic: if Tovmasyan creates a text of the Constitution that allows Serzh Sargsyan to hold office for life, then that text should also provide him with the opportunity to hold office for life as the President of the Constitutional Court, contrary to the current Constitution,” Pashinyan said.
