I don't remember anyone ever making such statements under the walls of the police: A. Kocharyan
The Chairman of the Permanent Committee on Defense and Security of the National Assembly of Armenia and MP Andranik Kocharyan considers it unacceptable that former president of the Football Federation Ruben Hayrapetyan was not held accountable for his statement: "I will one day lie down beautifully and clean my feet on them." This was reported by Aysor.am.
“The police have significant responsibilities here. I do not remember anyone ever making such statements under the walls of the police; during all the times I remember, this has never happened since the 1990s. But I do not see that the police have carried out the actions required of them. Otherwise, it is unlikely that anyone could make such statements,” Kocharyan told reporters during a briefing.
He noted that the police must realize that they are a law enforcement agency. “Last month, we provided additional assignments to the police so that they could acquire significant political weight of trust and exercise their legally defined powers, but yesterday I noticed that the police were constrained and, in fact, the police received a blow that was directed not only at them but also at the politically legitimate authority formed as a result of the elections; and it was well thought out,” Kocharyan said.
When asked what was constraining the police, Kocharyan replied that he was unaware, noting that over the past 20 years, the police have reached a point where they have always been constrained in front of authorities. “Didn’t we see during the revolution which instructions the police were following in Ejmiatsin, Erabus? This inertia continues. I want the police to get out of this situation as soon as possible,” he added.
