Artsakh's Ministry of Defense Issues Statement

The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Artsakh has issued a statement in response to a media publication.

Regarding the article titled "A soldier was warned months before his death that officials' sons were harassing others in the unit. A new situation" published by the newspaper "Zhoghovurd" on February 5, the Artsakh Ministry of Defense informs:

"On October 30, 2019, a relative (aunt) of the conscript H. Ch. from the specified military unit reported that, according to her information, the serviceman was regularly subjected to beatings by his fellow soldiers and had attempted to escape. Immediately after the alert, the unit commander conducted an internal investigation, and contact was made with the relatives of the cited soldier to clarify the circumstances of the complaint. Additionally, the military police division of Stepanakert prepared materials, and a criminal case was initiated, which was transferred to the garrison investigative division and subsequently dismissed due to the lack of a crime."
