My Step Alliance Goes to Dilijan: What Issues Were Discussed?
According to the newspaper "Zhoghovurd", the National Assembly's "My Step" faction traveled to Dilijan for three days to, as they put it, develop their strategy for 2020.
On Saturday, February 1, the President of the National Assembly, Ararat Mirzoyan, also joined the My Step members. The main discussions took place on that day. Our sources report that the topics of discussion included several legislative proposals that the parliamentarians are expected to present for discussion soon.
According to the newspaper, the first issue discussed was the amendments to the "Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly" law, which is included in the agenda for the extraordinary meeting scheduled for February 6. It can be said that this has even caused confusion among the My Step faction, as it excludes the President of the Republic and the President of the Constitutional Court from the process of constitutional changes.
Following that, the agenda included changes to the Electoral Code, as the authorities aim to "neutralize" the proportional electoral system. In this regard, the newspaper spoke with Vagarshak Hakobyan, a deputy from the National Assembly's "My Step" faction, who has also actively participated in the discussions. "I believe that as a ruling political force, we must do everything to ensure the economic development of Armenia, political stability, positive sentiment, and pursue the ambitious programs we have ahead of us," he noted.
